Baby Massage

baby-on-his-tummy-massageTouch is an essential part of healthy development throughout childhood and massage can play an important role in the physical and emotional well being of both you and your baby.

Did you know that massage can benefit your baby in the following ways?

Interaction:
Massaging your baby provides a period of one to one quality time, which can enhance the bonding and attachment process. Nurturing touch also conveys feelings of love and security to your baby.

Stimulation:
Massage can stimulate the development of many of your baby’s body systems, including the circulatory, digestive, respiratory, immune, nervous and lymphatic systems.

Relief:
Massage can provide relief from colic, constipation, muscular tension, teething, and physical and psychological tension.

Relaxation:
Massage releases relaxing hormones such as oxytocin and serotonin and reduces the level of stress hormones in the body. Massage therefore has a calming effect which can lead to improved sleep patterns, and reduce hypersensitivity, hyperactivity and crying. The release of the anti-stress hormone oxytocin whilst massaging also helps parents to relax.

Classes

Baby massage courses run over a 6 week period, where you will learn to massage your baby from head to toe. Oils, handouts, refreshments, cuddles for babies and reassurance for parents are all included!

The classes are relaxed, informal and most of all fun.  The sessions also provide a fantastic support system for new parents, where we chat about the highs and lows of the transition to parenthood.

This is what parents had to say about the baby massage classes:

Baby massage has been a real life saver! Claudia has always been very grumpy at the end of the day, as bath and bed approaches. But at the same time every day as the grumbling starts and we cant do a thing with her, we start her massage and she instantly calms, gives us smiles and relaxes before bathtime. Thank you !. — Jenny

I cannot recommend these classes enough and I feel really lucky to have Linzy as part of my support network as a first time mum.  She is approachable, down to earth and just an all round lovely lady who genuinely cares about each of her clients and their babies!— Abbie

Linzys class put me (a very anxious first time mum) immediately at ease.  The classes are so sociable and there is no pressure to participate if baby isnt playing ball.  She also encourages mums to meet before/after the class for more socialising which has been the highlight of my week!— Anna
